Calabria

1. Cosenza - Castello Svevo (Pancrazio hill). It was built around 937 A.D. by the Byzantines to defend against Saracen incursions, then rebuilt in 1132 by Roger the Norman, and finally rebuilt by Frederick II of Swabia around 1240 that gave the project its military architects.

2. Cosenza - Rendano Theatre and Duomo (Piazza XV Marzo and Telesio). Starting from the green lung of the city that is the Villa Vecchia, is a pleasant walk to admire the most important buildings of the oldest part of the city, including the theater dedicated to Alfonso Rendano, the building that now houses the Province of Cosenza, the Duomo and the bishopric. Going through the narrow streets you will see the old shops and enjoy coffee and cakes in the longest running and most famous local city, the bar Renzelli.

3. Cosenza-Boulevard (via Lungofiume). On the slopes of the hill on which stands the Castle , the Busento River Runs ; it is linked to the myth of Alaric, king of the Goths. According to legend was buried in the bed of the river with his treasures, including the Ark of the Covenant and the seven-branched candelabrum.

4. San Giovanni in Fiore (province of Cosenza) is in the mountains of Sila, near the border with the province of Crotone. And 'the birthplace of Blessed Joachim of Fiore "of prophetic endowed spirit" whose theological thinking is still being studied and insights. The Abbey, located in the town, was built with architectural elements imbued with high symbolism.

5. San Marco Argentano (province of Cosenza), Norman town, still visible traces of the passage of Robert Guiscard and his military court. The Tower of 1048 (via Nelson Iavocini), the Crypt (at the Cathedral, Vescovado square, via Duca degli Abruzzi) and the Abbey of Matina (Matina district) are witnessing an important past. The Abbey also saw the visit of Pope Urban II just before the Crusades and the abbot Ursus, who started  from Orval (Luxembourg) to the Holy Land where he founded the Order of Sion.

6. Filadelfia, inland in the province of Vibo Valentia, is the Masonic city par excellence. Its name means "brotherly love" and follows the same style of the homonymous Philadelphia in the US. The monument of Crocella depicts a snake that wraps around the globe, the municipal coat of arms consists of two hands that meet, one of which originally gloved.

7. Pizzo Calabro (province of Vibo Valentia) is scenery of the sad end of Joachim Murat, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, after the failed attempt to provoke a popular uprising against Ferdinand IV of Borbone. He was captured and imprisoned in the castle, then shot after a summary trial. Besides the story, Pizzo is place of extraordinary gelato, even better to taste it looking the main  square.

8. Reggio Calabria - The waterfront Falcomatà was defined by Gabriele d'Annunzio "the most beautiful kilometer in Italy", overlooking the Strait of Messina offering a particular view. There are several legends about the mythical fairy Morgana, one of them wants a beautiful woman led a barbarian king to approach her entering into the water and died drowned. Equally well known are the Scylla and Cariddi , the two sea monsters that would be due to the strong currents in the Messina Strait.

9. Reggio Calabria - Riace Bronzes. Brought to light in the seventies, the two Warriors are an expression of sublime art. After a long restoration, today are exposed to the Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia (via De Nava).

10. Aspromonte (province of Reggio Calabria) - The Mausoleum of Garibaldi is located near the tourist location of Gambarie.  In that place is still protected the milestone where the general was laid after injuring in a firefight in 1862. The hero of the two worlds was back in Sicily and Calabria to two years after the expedition of the Thousand trying to reach Rome, but was forced to surrender.

11. Scilla (province of Reggio Calabria). The Ruffo Caste of  Scilla, already described by Homer in the Odyssey, is set on a cliff overlooking a bay. From top offers a breathtaking view that sweeps from the colors of teal blue sea to the tip of Sicily that seems possible to achieve with a finger.
